Understanding anamorphic rendered movies

Movies rendered to the AVI DV format will appear distorted when viewed in Windows Media Player. This is normal. Movie pixels in DV files have rectangular pixels but Windows Media Player displays them as squares. The movies will be stretched or squished as appropriate by your DVD burning software.

Movies rendered to the QuickTime format DV Stream and some HD DV formats will appear distorted when viewed in QuickTime player. This is normal. Movie pixels in the DV Stream formats have rectangular pixels but QuickTime player displays them as squares. The movies will be stretched or squished as appropriate by your DVD burning software.

You can use QuickTime Player Pro to set the proper aspect ratio of your movie to 640x480 during playback.
